Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
