Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
